Privacy Policy

We Give respects the privacy of individuals, and takes seriously the trust of individuals in providing it with their personal details as supporters or donors.

We Give is bound by the Commonwealth’s Privacy Amendment (Private Sector) Act 2000 which became effective for all private sector organisations in Australia from 21 December 2001.

Acceptance of Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy applies towww.wegive.com.au and to all business activities of We Give and may be amended or modified without notice by posting the amended Privacy Notice to the We Give website.

If any item of this Privacy Policy is found to be invalid or unenforceable, that invalidity or unenforceability will not affect the remainder of the Privacy Policy, which will continue in full force and effect.

Code of practice

  • We Give will only collect personal information from donors that is essential for the purposes for which it is requested. Personal information collected by We Give will be used solely for the primary purpose for which it is collected or for a closely related secondary purpose.
  • Persons receiving direct marketing material will be given the opportunity of not receiving any further information.
  • Every effort will be made to ensure that all personal information is accurate and, as far as practicable, kept up-to-date.
  • All personal information will be stored in computerised databases accessible only to those persons who need to have access to the information.
  • We Give will take all reasonable steps to ensure the integrity of its computerised databases and records.
  • Personal information will be confidentially destroyed or de-identified as soon as it is no longer legally required.
  • We Give will not use or record any ‘identifier’ issued by a government agency to identify a person in its records or databases.
  • Where possible, We Give will respect a person who wishes to remain anonymous.
  • All collection of sensitive information will involve formal consent from the individual, even if required by law.
  • Personal information may be disclosed to third party organisations in relation to the purpose(s) with which we obtained your personal information. These organisations include, but are not limited to Cancer Council. We endeavour to take reasonable steps to ensure that these organisations are bound by confidentiality and privacy obligations in relation to the protection of your personal information.

Unauthorised Card Use

You agree not to use an invalid or unauthorised credit card. Once a donation is made, the transaction is final and not subject to dispute beyond 48 hours after the transaction unless unauthorised use of your payment card is proved. If you become aware of fraudulent use of your card, or if it is lost or stolen, you must notify your card issuer in accordance with its reporting rules.

Protecting your Password

  1. Upon registration with We Give, you will be invited to create a password to protect your personal account;
  2. It is your responsibility to keep this password safe and ensure that it is not disclosed to any third party;
  3. If you become aware that unauthorised use of your password has, or may take place, you are advised to change your password immediately by following the on-Site instructions;
  4. We Give strongly recommends its users to select a strong password combining uppercase and lowercase alpha-numeric characters with a minimum length of 8 digits.
  5. Your We Give password should be changed at least every 90 days and cannot be identical to the previous 4 passwords you have used.
  6. Your We Give password is unique to you, non-transferable and it is not to be shared.

Online Payment Privacy

We Give uses recommended measures to secure your personal information. All transactions are processed directly through the Pin Payments and Fat Zebra bank gateways. All credit card details are deleted from the Internet Server immediately and are not held on We Give website.

To ensure the highest level of security for your transactions, 128bit Secured Sockets Layer (SSL) encryption is used on this site.
